“El Torito” and “RamGo” Devices
With the breakthrough design of our innovative AI devices, insemination of cows and sheep has never been easier and more effective. The working principle of our AI El Torito devices is based on the fact that instead of passing an instrument through the cow’s cervix, we use a liquid that pushes the semen all the way to the back of the uterus, to the horns, which allows us to obtain high conception rates, even higher than traditional AI.
It is a low-cost and easy to learn method. With traditional AI, technicians need to develop the skill to place the semen always at the right spot. Our system allows for insemination to proceed in a very regular manner. It doesn’t require the same precision and skill, which allows for anyone to do it.
Also, traditional training implies a higher cost. Several cows are needed to practice, which usually end up being injured. El Torito allows technicians to learn without injuring cows. With El Torito, anyone can perform AI, regardless of age, gender or training level.
The ease of learning is one of the main features of El Torito, which allows us to teach larger groups of technicians at a time, sometimes 20 to 30 people in 2 to 3 hours, instead of teaching 10 to 15 people in three days, where only 2 or 3 will truly acquire the skills needed. Also, if the technician does not practice traditional AI continuously, he loses his skill level.
It is more hygienic because the technician no longer needs to introduce his hand through the cow’s rectum. In the case of sheep, transcervical insemination has not achieved good results. Only laparoscopy has delivered good conception rates. However, with our RamGo system we achieve as high conception rates as laparoscopy, with the added advantages of speed, safety, ease of use, and cost effectiveness, instead of being invasive, expensive and risky.
Our product users include dairy and meat producers, both in cow and sheep farms. Our ideal clients are small producers, which usually need to pay specialized technicians to inseminate their cattle. With our devices we offer a “Do-it-yourself” system for the layman, and they can enhance the job of a fully trained technician as well.
There are three kinds of Toritos:
El Torito Clásico
El Torito Clásico inludes a device with a balloon. This balloon seals the entrance to the cervix. A specially formulated liquid pushes the semen all the way to the back of the uterus. A speculum is used to locate the exact area where the semen will be deposited. This model is ideal for heifers, because of the narrowness of their cervix.
El Torito Express for cows and heifers
Instead of a balloon, El Torito Express includes a pear-shaped device and a cannula at the tip. The cannula allows for a deeper penetration into the uterus.
El Torito Express can be utilized with or without the speculum used for the Torito Clásico. Instead, a lubricated disposable glove can be used to manually introduce the kit into the vagina . This system is recommended for cows. In the case of heifers, we have developed a device that includes a speculum which performs very well in small cattle like angus or jersey.
RamGo
Our RamGo system is exclusively designed for sheep and deer. It has a smaller pear-shaped device and cannula than the Torito Express.
Our RamGo device is one of its kind. It can pass through the first ring of the sheep’s cervix, which is usually hard to achieve. Its conception rate is similar to that of laparoscopy.
